8 reasons Why people are so addicted to their cell phones/smart phones?

  1.  The desire to update twitter/Facebook/ Some Random Social Networking Website status: This comes from a desire to show how cool our lives are. Why do we have this desire. I have no idea
  2. Texting: The single most intrusive thing ever. I bet your partner/friends start drawing conclusions if you don't reply soon enough
  3. The desire to know what's going on with others lives: The grass is always greener on the other side
  4. To avoid social interaction with people physically around you: Could be because the person is socially awkward or considers himself/herself too cool for common people
  5.  Desire to gather information: We all like to stay updated on our fields of interest
  6.  Deferring the act of thinking: When we are continuously absorbing information, all we are doing is pre-processing it and storing it in our brains. If we take a break from gathering information, we start thinking (or daydreaming). The act of actually drawing logical conclusions from all the information we have is tedious. Inadvertently, we all try to avoid it
  7.  To look cool: Can't describe this. Sorry
  8. Accessibility to music: Yes, this is soothing. Try it sometime.
Could be more. Most of this behavior is inadvertent though.
