The impact Limitation and effect of second FESTAC on Africa and the black world

The second FESTAC has made both temporary and permanently impact on Nigeria, Africa, the black world and the world in general. The impact could be summarized in to social, economic and political.

Social and culture impact

the second FESTAC constitutes a forum for discussing problems common to blacks and African in particular, black and African artists too found a venue for discussing their problem and achievement on the educational stand point, many saw the second FEATAC as a source of studding history, literature and geography. For example many works and excavation were exhibited, the origin of man was proved to be in black Africa about 14 million years ago, the FESTAC also presented the first church in Africa. The Ethiopian orthodox church which started in 4BC – 59BC. Many literary writings were also presented I the colloquim, these will soon be on sale in markets and bookshops as literature books. Many of the participating countries knew Africa for the first time and Nigeria in particular thus widening their knowledge of geography. Black people, predominantly of Africa descent who have come from every part of the globe demonstrated in most colorful manner that the black have rich, beautiful and ancient civilization to be proud of. This has thus cancelled the heinous writings by the whites like hegal and A.P newton that Africa is a black continent and has no history and civilization. They went on to say that any civilization in the area was  credited to the whites.

on the political stand point, many heads of states attended the FESTAC, it therefore turned in to a forum for the meeting of heads of states of countries, they utilized the opportunity to discuss bi-lateral relation, with their counter-part. Among the head of stats who attended the FESTAC were president ahmadu ahidjo of Cameroon, president A. neto of Angola, president beyni kountche of niger, president Eyadema of togo, president lamizana of upper volter and mr. r.c. bradshow of st.kitts.

Limitation and effect of FESTAC

Having agreed that FESTAC has meaning and purpose, we should now asses its effectiveness by noting its limitations.
Effect of foreign religion, technology, culture and rule- our tradition culture has been undermined by foreign religion, culture, technology and rule, the traditional culture that has survived has lost a great deal of authenticity and meaning
Irrelevant of some survival culture- certain aspect of the traditional culture do not deserve to be retained or reviewed, they should be thrown into the limbo because they are negative and out dated.
Influence of politicians- whatever FESTAC may achieve today, politics may offset and neutralize it tomorrow, for example out of 79 countries that were looked to attend the FESTAC only 59 attended some key countries like Senegal and guinea even threaten to absent themselves.
